From the history of the organization

NGO “Kalegium” was formed on the Constituent Assembly on December 1, 1998.
It was registered on May 5, 1999.
The registration certificate ¹ 01-0006.
At the beginning of its activity Kalegium worked in the field of culture and education: organization of exhibitions, concerts, excursions of historical places of Pinschina

Year 1998

March 29, 1998 took place the exhibition called “Kalegium-Collection” where the works of young artists of Pinsk the members of the organization Zhanna Vorobjova, Elena Dikovitskaya, Tatyana Gonzhurova were presented. The exhibition was sponsored by the Swedish Educational Union ABF and 75 Swedish citizens
 
November-December, 1998 the members of Kalegium organized the questionnaire for teachers of Pinsk secondary schools on the problem of drugs. The results of the questionnaire became the base for choosing the direction of the project called “Drugbox”
 
Year 1999

February 1, 1999 took place “Literary-historical reading on the history of guitar and lute on Byelorussian lands” with the participation of Yurij Dubnovitskij the teacher of Pinsk music-school
 
Summer 1999 members and friends of Kalegium attended courses on computer and English
December 18, 1999 was opened the exhibition of colour photo “Svetapoglyad”, artist Tatyana Gonzhurova. Yurij Dubnovitskij gave a concert of lute music
Year 2000

May 12-13, 2000 in Pinsk took place an international seminar Drugbox for teachers, social workers, medical workers, and other people who work with groups of risk regarding drugs (youngsters and teenagers). The seminar was the start of the project planed for a year. The participants of the seminar got much new and useful information and expressed the wish of further co operation
 
June 9-11, 2000 the members of Kalegium visited Gomel women’s reformatory “UZ-15/4”. The initiative to go to Gomel “four” arose after reading of the letter sent by UVD to Byelorussian Helsinki Committee. It was said in the letter that because of insufficient state financing appeared problems of providing with equipments and things of everyday necessity.
The goal of the visit wasn’t just to help financially to prisoners but also to investigate different aspects of the problem of keeping of women in reformatories. More about this...
 
September 14-17, 2000 in Göteburg (Sweden) took place yearly Book Fair (Bok o’Bibliotek 2000). It’s the biggest event in the country which influences the forming of social-cultural and political climate in Sweden and also outside the country. The work of the stand “Vitryssland” (“Belarus”) was organized by the Social Union Association for the Support of Kalegium in Belarus, Swedish Institution Partnership for Culture and the fond Forum Syd.
Nadezhda Avsievich (“Kalegium”) made a report “Byelorussian feminism”. Oksana Dubnovitskaya (“Kalegium”) told about the co operation with the Swedish Union “Drug-free society” in the frame of the project Drugbox dealing with drug prevention in Pinsk.
Stand “Vitryssland” was attended by the Prime-Minister of Sweden Goran Persson. Underlining the importance of the process of democratization in Byelorussian society he added that the policy of security in Europe depends on the position of Belarus.
 
October, 2000 in Luninec was organized the photo exhibition “Svetapoglyad” of Tatyana Gonzhurova’s works and Yurij Dubnovitsky’s concert of lute music
 

Year 2001

 February, 2001 Oksana Dubnovitskaya took part in the seminar “Leadership in the sphere of social, professional and private life” which was organized for women from the countries of the former Soviet Union

February, 2001 Maria Söderberg’s reportage about mass loss of cattle on the pig farm “Yuzhnoe” Pinsk region. The beginning of “pigs’ business”
 March, 2001social organizations initiated the inquiry on the facts of mass loss of pigs on the farm “Yuzhnoe”.

 April-May, 2001 students of one of Pinsk school asked Kalegium for the support of publishing the bulletin “From under the desk”. In the process of team-work relations became warm and the students began to work as the volunteers of the organization

May 21, 2001  NGO Kalegium together with 18 NGOs of Belarus signed the Declaration of unification of Social Organizations to the network on the struggle with AID
June 7-8, 2001 representatives of women’s social organizations from Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Belarus on the conference in Nortelje (Sweden) discussed the problems of gender equality. Was formed the initiative group Baltic Fem, the Declaration of the group Baltic Fem from Byelorussian side signed Nadezhda Avsievich (Kalegium)
June 15-17, 2001 Oksana Dubnovitskaya took part in the seminar on drug prevention in Sweden
June 8-August 2, 2001 Svetlana Govor, methodologist of Pinsk City Department of Education took part in the conference organized by YVES (International Association on Popularization of Healthy Way of Life) in Sygtuna (Sweden)
September 9, 2001 took place the elections of the resident of the Republic of Belarus
September 13-16, 2001 five members of our organization were the guests of yearly Book Fair in Göteburg (Sweden).
October 10-14, 2001 the group of social pedagogues from Pinsk visited Carlstadt (Sweden). The goal of the visit was to see their colleagues “in action”. Irina Zheleznova, social pedagogue from Pinsk school 15 planed to use this experience in her work with “difficult” children
October 26, 2001 took place the round table of Pinsk social organizations. Participants appraise the work of the third sector as “insufficiently effective”
November 17, 2001 took place international seminar on drug prevention in Svetlogorsk (Belarus)
November 23, 2001 Kalegium together with representatives of Swedish Institute and with their support organized the seminar “Gender stereotypes in Swedish and Byelorussian media. Gender stereotypes in the process of upbringing and education in Byelorussian and Swedish society”.
Year 2002

February 18, 2002 in the building of Pinsk station of junior natural study group was opened the exhibition of photos Alexej Dubrovsky’s photos “Through the paths of Polesje”
 
February 22-24, 2002 General Secretary of Swedish National Union “For a Drug-free Society” Par Uhanson, the representative of the Uppsala Police Department of struggle against drugs Kenneth Ulson and the leader of Upsala Social Department on struggle against drugs Yan Dalman visited Pinsk. Swedish guests and representatives of Kalegium met with the Head of the City Department of Internal Affaires Vladimir Tibec and the procurator of Pinsk Aleksej Andrievich. They talk about Swedish experience in the field of drug prevention, restrictive policy in the sphere of drugs and necessity of international co operation
March 4-10, 2002 Elena Golovach and Nadezhda Avsievich visited Sweden. The programme of the visit contained the meeting with the representatives of Swedish Institute on the question of the project of strengthening girls in the sphere of politics and social life; work visit to Uppsala on the question of the continuation of the project on prevention of drug addiction
March 22-25, 2002 Maria Söderberg, Oksana Dubnovitskaya and Nadezhda Avsievich visited the opening of the Scandinavian Center of Research in ESU in Minsk, and also visited Shagal’s Museum in Vitebsk
May 19, 2002 on the behalf of Kalegium a group of ecotourists from Holland visited Pinsk. In the club “Radagast” they met with Pinsk social organizations and told about ecological projects which they realized in their country. The next day the tourists from Netherlands and representatives of Pinsk public went for water trip on the rout Pinsk-Turov
May 31, 2002 the Evening of Byelorussian and Swedish Poetry in Pinsk. The support: Kalegium together with TBM and Association for the Support of Kalegium in Belarus (Sweden). Poets from Pinsk, Hrodno, Minsk and Stockholm read their works.
June 26-July 1, 2002 ten women from Pinsk took part in the programme on studying gender equality and work with group of girls.
September-October, 2002 the members and voluntaries of Kalegium worked by Swedish methodic “Rubbles and Roses” with five groups of girls in Pinsk schools.
October 2-4, 2002 in Pinsk were organized trainings on the programme “Equal teaches equal”. The trainers from St.Peterthburg club “Rovesnik” gave lessons to prepare teachers for the programme “Rovesnik-rovesniku”. Its base was the forming a group of teenagers who had the qualities of leaders and took an active position against drugs. October 15-16, 2002 in Pinsk took part international seminar “Secondary prevention of drug addiction and early interference “organized by NGO Kalegium and the Union “For the Society without Drugs” (Sweden). Year 2003

From September, 2002 till January, 2003 ten members and volunteers of NGO Kalegium worked with five groups of girls in Pinsk schools. The participants of the project tells about their work
From January, 2003 members and volunteers of our organization read the elective course “Popularization of Healthy Lifestile and Drug Prevention” in Pinsk Pedagogical College. Materials
January 20-22, 2003 in Pinsk and Brest took place seminars on secondary drug prevention among teenagers and early interference. On both seminars took part representatives of the Office of Public Prosecutor, police and social services of Uppsala (Sweden) Thomas Belter-Nordeman, Kenneth Ulson and Yan Dalman.
March 11, 2003 in Pinsk school ¹8 took place the round table on the question of secondary drug prevention. In the work of it took part social pedagogues from the schools of our city, representat6ives of the Office of Public Prosecutor, the Inspection of Affairs of Miners, NGO Kalegium and also representatives of police and social services of Uppsala (Sweden) and the deputy of the Parliament of Republic of Belarus Ivan Kibak.
March 27-28, 2003 in Minsk took place Byelorussian-Swedish seminar on the problem of non-medical drug addiction, ACID and people trade, in the work took part members and volunteers of Kalegium. Material by Ruslan Gagua on hr_minsk7
April 11-12, 2003 in Minsk took place the meeting of Byelorussian Network on ACID (BSS), Kalegium was represented by Cheslava Dudareva and Ruslan Gogua. In the meeting took part cief-doctor of the Republican Center of ACID prevention Ljudmila Meleshko, coordinator of international projects of Canadian Society Against AID (CAS) Mark-Andre LeBlanc, the chief of the representation of UNO in Belarus Nil Bune, representatives of NGOs which are parts of BSS. During the meeting they corrected the plan of the work of the Network for 2002-2003, discussed the forms of registration and steady development of the Network, work out the regulations of membership of BSS, the base of communication plan and other questions
May 29-31, 2003 in Pinsk, Luninec, Mikashevichy took place traditional Days of Byelorussian and Swedish poetry. The programme included meetings with poets, literary men, presentation of popular scientific book “Swedes in the history of Belarus by Andrej Katlerchuk and the Cup of Young Poets
The end of May-the beginning of June, 2003 Swedish Social-Democratic Party and the redaction of web-site www.vytryssland.nu organized Byelorussian-Swedish seminars in Pinsk, Brest and Hrodno on the problem of people trading. During the seminars was shown the film “Lilya forever” by Swedish director Lucas Mudisson.
In Pinsk the film was shown on May 26-27. In discussion on the film took an active part Maria Söderberg, the redactor of the web-site www.vitryssland.nu, members of Kalegium, students and teachers of Pinsk Pedagogical College, represantat6ives of the Office of Public Prosecutor, the Inspection of Affairs of Miners and social-psychological service of the city
 
July, 2003 on the initiative of Pinsk City Organization “Francisk Scaryna Association of Byelorussian Language” and Adaptation-Teaching Center “Mroya” NGO Kalegium organized a series of social trainings (Leto_gendere). They took place in NGO Kalegium and the club “Rovesnik” (Pinsk). It was used methodic “Rubbles and Roses” of Swedish organization WOCAD
 September 6-7, 2003 in Luninec and Mikashevichi were organized trainings for teachers on the methodic of interaction for work with groups of teenagers. They were conducted by the members of Kalegium and active workers form the club “Luninec Muse”. In the work were used elements from Swedish methodic “Rubble and Roses”
September 27-29, 2003 in Göteburg (Sweden) took place International Book Fair where participated also representatives from Pinsk.
The end of October, 2003 in Pinsk had begun the work the programme on secondary drug prevention in which took part the Office of Public Prosecutor, the Inspection of Affairs of Minors, cultural-sport institution “Rovesnik”, NGO Kalegium and other state and social organizations of the city

December 10-12, 2003 in Pinsk took place next stage of the programme “Girls in the centre of attention” organized by NGO Kalegium and Swedish Women’s Organizations Committee on Alcohol and Drugs (WOCAD). In the international seminar-training organized with support of the Swedish Institution took part representatives from WOCAD Inger Lundmark, Erika Marklund, members and volunteers from Kalegium and more than 40 girls from senior classes

Year 2004

 

February 21, 2004 representatives from Kalegium took part in the seminar on the problem of forbidden drugs which took place in Hrodno. The seminar was organized by the administration of education of Hrodno Regional Executive Committee, Ulolf Palme International Centre (Stockholm, Sweden), Hrodno Regional Union of Practical Psychologists, Hrodno NGO of social-psychological assistance “Stupeni”

 

March 13-14, 2004 in Mogiljov with support of Ulof Palme International Centre (Sweden) took place the seminar on the problem of violence against women and women’s rights in the society

May 27-28, 2004 in Brest took place international seminar on the problem of non-medical drug addiction and sexual slavery organized by Ulof Palme Centre, Swedish Social-Democratic Party and Brest Regional Office of Public Prosecutor.
 May 27-28, 2004 in Pinsk took place regular Days of Byelorussian and Swedish Poetry. Support: the Swedish Institution (Stockholm), the administrations of culture and education of Pinsk Regional Executive Committee, Kalegium. The programme included literary reading and the Cup of Young People’s Poetry.
The winner of the Cup of Young People Poetry Evgeniya Getmanchuk visited Sweden. She made excursions on history-cultural places of Stockholm and visited Swedish Writers’ Union
June 21-22, 2004 NGO Kalegium from Pinsk together with Polish lyceum#25 organized the exhibition of female paintings in Warsaw. More about this

September 22-23, 2004 10 women from Belarus including members of Kalegium Zhanna Dolzhenko, Anastsia Gulak, Nadezhda Seredich took part in the international seminar (Estonia) “Women in Politics” which was organized by the women’s administration of Swedish Social-Democratic Party and representatives of “round table” of Estonian women’s organizations in Pyarnu (Estonia)

Year 2005


January26-25, 2005 in St.Petersburg in the frame of the programme of Anti-drug Politics International Centre ESPAD took place the seminar. The participants of the seminar shared experience in the field of drug prevention. Maria Söderberg’s photo-exhibition called “Drug –killer” was timed to the seminar. The exhibition represented the example of new active approach to drug prevention.


2005 Creative initiative of Kalegium’s friends: photos by Alexej Dubrovsky, design by Nadezhda Seredich and Cheslava Dudareva made a calendar “Polesje: the Water and the Sky”. There is unique colour of Polesje: mysterious music of winter, restrained beauty of spring landscape, expression of summer colours and reverie of autumn scenery. And the most important thing - love of the native place.
March 24-25, 2005 In Borisov region took place Byelorussia-Swedish seminar on the problem of sexual slavery and drugs. Participants discussed the reasons of drugs and prostitution spreading, and the main question-methods of prevention.
