School. The exhibition of Zhanna’s paintings, which was organized with Kalegium’s
support, is of course an event in the cultural life of Pinsk. |

| On November 14, 2002 at the Museum of Belarusian Polesye there was an opening ceremony of the personal exhibition of Zhanna Vorobyova, the member of NGO Kalegium and the teacher of Pinsk Children’s Art School. The exhibition of Zhanna’s paintings, which was organized with Kalegium’s support, is of course an event in the cultural life of Pinsk. All the 34 paintings by Zhanna Vorobyova are made in the same technique. The landscapes, the still lives, the portraits and the nudes, painted very professionally in oil, pastel and gouache, impressed the visitors very much. The specialists praised the artist for paying special attention to the composition and perspective of her works. It is easy to notice that colours are quite contrast and half-tones are practically absent. Usual things and standard themes look mysterious and inspired. It seems that some supernatural force gave a couple of coloured spots the shape and volume – and this way images were created. Quite usual people and things like a woman with a baby, landscapes, a still life with sunflowers in Zhanna’s pictures turn out to be quite unusual and help us to look at the world around us at a different angle. This is the first exhibition of Zhanna Vorobyova – and it is very successful. The exhibited paintings show the artist’s talent and mastery. Both the visitors and the specialists such as the Head master and the teachers of Pinsk Children’s Art School liked her pictures. It is good to learn that in the large desert of bad taste works of mass culture one can spot an oasis of art. Zhanna Vorobyova’s paintings are really such an oasis and they are worthy to be looked at. It could be good if the citizens of Pinsk have more opportunities to enjoy such kinds of events. |
